HEART OF THE PRACTICE: YOGA & VEDANTA IMMERSION IN UBUD, BALI
Mon 22 June to Sun 28 June 2026

(This programme qualifies for 60 hours of continuing education credits)

The practice of Yoga is a lifelong pursuit, and the path is not always an easy one. Along the way, it is inevitable that we occasionally lose motivation or inspiration, or simply forget why we fell in love with Yoga in the first place. While a lot boils down to discipline and commitment when maintaining our personal practice, uncontrollable factors like travel, work, responsibilities and, well, life, can disrupt even the most sincere practitioner. In my years of practice, I've discovered two other pillars that can really support us in staying on-track — studentship and sangha (community).

This is what's inspired this 60-hour summer immersion in Bali. In this week-long programme, we will remove ourselves from the routine of daily living and, instead, steep ourselves in the rhythms of unobstructed practice.

For 2026, I've decided to pay homage to my Yoga roots in Ubud, where I spent many foundational years in my Yoga education. Ubud is very special to me, and it is a place I return to every year to re-immerse myself in study with my teachers and friends. This programme, while immersive, is also non-residential, allowing you a little more leeway to build a routine that speaks to you around the programme hours. Please ballpark S$500 for your personal expenses including airport transfers, meals (breakfast and lunch are inclusive; dinner is not) and accommodation (I will share shala location and recommended guesthouses).

Our daily schedule runs from 7:30am to 6:30pm, with time in-between for meals and recharge breaks. Held by the lush tropical container of one of my favourite Yoga shalas in Ubud (and where I have so many memories of transformative practices), we will create a conducive container in which we will commit to holistic daily morning and evening practice (asana, pranayama, dharana and svadhyaya — postures, breathwork, meditative practices and self-inquiry) with me or a guest teacher friend, daily lectures in Yoga or Ayurveda with me, and Vedanta with my wise and humourous guru Nilooferji. Like Yoga, Vedanta stems from the Vedas, and understanding its philosophy is very complementary to our Yoga studies. And everyday, we will remind ourselves of the ultimate goal this wisdom science guides us towards — freedom.

The majority of topics covered will be different from what was covered in 2025's Sri Lanka Hatha Yoga immersion, and I highly welcome all immersion alumni back to this sacred cocoon of study.

Apart from Nilooferji, there will be a few more Bali-based teachers guest-teaching, subject to schedule confirmation. The full faculty list will be released at a later date.

Who this immersion may be suitable for

  • You have been practising in a studio for awhile, and are curious where the postural practice stands amidst subtler practices like working with the breath, philosophy and meditation.

  • You have been thinking to join a teacher training to deepen your knowledge of Yoga, but are not sure whether to invest both the time and money that a training requires. And should you decide mid-immersion that this is the path for you, then you can choose to add on the Yoga Teacher Training module (*see below), scheduled to be held over 7 weekends in Singapore in July and August.

  • You are a newish teacher who feels your practice and teaching lack depth.

  • You are a longtime practitioner missing the camaraderie of community, and yearning to remember why you practise.

  • You had a wonderful time at 2025's Sri Lanka Hatha Yoga Immersion and would love to return for a week of study and community.

All are welcome. We will build our practice and our understanding of the practice from the ground up, so there is no pre-requisite but a sincere seeker's heart. This is also an invitation to all Living Yoga teacher training graduates to come home to the container of studentship, sadhana and kula. To return to the heart of the practice as a community can be inspiring and re-affirming.

This immersion is a compulsory component of the 2026 Living Yoga Hatha Yoga Teacher Training programme. More details here.

The drive from Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to our shala venue (details will only be shared with participants) takes anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on traffic. If you are flying in on 22 June itself, please plan to land in Bali no later than 10:30am. If you are flying out on 28 June itself, please opt for a flight that leaves Bali after 7pm.
