LIVING YOGA: LADAKH AUTUMN RETREAT
Sun 20 Sep to Sat 26 Sep 2026
Five years ago, at the peak of the global pandemic, I saw pictures of a gorgeous property nestled away in the ex-kingdom of Ladakh. Even though any thought of travel felt like a distant possibility at that time, I planted a tiny seed of intention — one day, we would have a retreat there. A few months ago, I jumped on a call with the owner of the property, and when speaking with her felt like I was chatting with an old friend (she just gets me!), I knew that the time has come. The stars have finally aligned.
I warmly invite you to join me in Ladakh next autumn, when the air is crisp and the foliage blushes in hues of orange and gold. We will be based in a charming eco-resort that marries Ladakhi traditions with modern comforts. It overlooks the majestic mountain ranges, and offers a mix of glamping tents (highly coveted and available for booking only half of the year) and comfortable rooms. Apart from daily Yoga, we will go on excursions that we have curated specially for our retreat group — visiting two beautiful Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, a guided walk through the nearby village to experience a taste of local life, a riverside picnic, an audience with a Tibetan Buddhist geshe, and a free-and-easy afternoon to explore bustling Leh market.
Itinerary
Our journey begins on Sunday 20 September in Leh airport, where you will be picked up for the short drive (about 45 minutes) to Ladakh and our home for the week. After freshening up and stretching our legs, we'll sit down for a welcome lunch and, perhaps, an afternoon snooze. Later that afternoon, we'll gather for our opening circle and practice, before settling in for dinner and an early night.
We will take it really easy for the first two days, so that we can gradually get used to the change in altitude (about 3100m above sea level). Over the course of our week together, we will balance out ample time on the property – whether it's soaking up the crisp autumn air while chilling on the terrace, or making food with our hands (momos!); with curated field excursions — a walk through the village, picnicking on the riverbank, visiting iconic Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, and heading out the Leh market to soak in the bustling atmosphere and meet with a local herbologist.
Our time together ends after breakfast on Saturday 26 September. A transfer will be arranged to drop those on the recommended flight out at Leh airport, where you can catch a flight to Delhi and then home.
A note on altitude sickness
We are travelling from a low to high altitude, so naturally, our bodies will need some time and support to adjust. Altitude sickness can sometimes present as headache, fatigue and nausea. However, in my experience, as long as we constantly hydrate and take it really easy the first two days, we would likely be able to keep altitude sickness at bay. If you are extra cautious, you can also get altitude sickness medicine prescribed from your GP. That said, there is a supply of additional oxygen on property if you need a hit, and also a very well-equipped army hospital that is just a 20-minute drive away.
A note on the Yoga practices
You do not need to be a seasoned practitioner in order to join this retreat. Our Yoga practices are designed to be inclusive for all levels of asana experience, and also holistic, incorporating elements like pranayama, meditation and mantra.
