Wed 5 Oct to Sun 9 Oct 2022

One thing my Yoga practice has taught me is that the practice doesn't end with savasana. In fact, once we begin with intention, the practice never ends. Every moment in life is Yoga — something Mama Bali always reminds me of whenever I'm in her warm embrace.

I have breathed in Bali's magic for over 10 years, and many participants on my Ubud retreat earlier in July have also fallen under her spell. I am enthralled and enchanted, and I don't want to wait till 2023 to share her magic with you. So we are returning, as a small group of 12 pax max, in October — both to healing Ubud, as well as the less traipsed grounds of Sidemen, an up-and-coming destination in east Bali.

We'll start our retreat in the lush environs of Sidemen, where its laidback pace will support us to take a step back from city rhythms and slow down. We will stay for two nights in Darmada, a family-run eco resort surrounded by traditional villages and rice fields. You can head out for temple visits and river rafting, or simply stay in, kick back and relax with a book or your thoughts. This is a part of Bali that's not quite on the tourist track yet, so the invitation is to slow down and be! :)

After that, we will take 1.5-hour drive towards Ubud, the Yoga hub of Bali where I spend time in study and contemplation every year. We will spend our last two nights at Bagus Jati, a gorgeous wellness and retreat centre set on five hectares of hillside gardens. We will be in the Superior Chalet rooms, surrounded by greenery. The property is set to the north of Ubud so it's tucked away from the hustle and bustle. That said, there is a daily complimentary shuttle (about a 45-minute drive) to take you to and fro Ubud town, if you'd like to visit the cafes or go shopping.

All rooms have ensuite baths and toilets, and can be outfitted with either a double or twin beds.

Note that the rooms are fan-cooled with no A/C; temperatures can go down to 21 degrees in Bagus Jati due to high elevation.

Fee: S$1,200 twin-share; S$1,800 single occupancy (subject to availability)
